Fly fishing

Pamela May is built for fly fishing. We offer fly fishing charters on Rhode Island's estuaries and salt ponds for our early spring Schoolie Striper worm hatch. Then our focus turns to our inshore reefs for larger Stripers feeding on Sand Eels. Late August through September host our classic fall run of speedster like False Albacore and Bonito as well as Bluefish and Striped Bass. If fly fishing is your passion, we have the perfect charter for you.

Light tackle fishing

Pamela May offers all types of light tackle fishing options. Whether bottom fishing for Fluke, casting for Bluefish or eeling for Striped Bass, we do it all. We supply you with all the equipment and knowledge for your adventure on the water. Bait and tackle are included as well as all the fish you catch are filleted for you to take home and enjoy.

Spear fishing

Pamela May Charters provides spear fishing trips for Stripers, Tautog and other native species. Our spear fishing season runs in early spring and late fall as the water clarity is the best for targeting our local species of fish.

You must have your own spear fishing gear and a waiver must be signed which will be provided the day of your charter.

Where we fish

Pamela May is based in Narragansett, Rhode Island. Our small size gives us a big advantage - we are mobile, so we can go to where the fish are. Locations are based on fishing and weather conditions to give you the best chance to catch a fish of a lifetime. We leave from Galilee or Pier 5 in Narragansett, but can mobilize to South Shore, and reefs off Newport, or into Narragansett Bay to get you on the fish!

Sightseeing and sunset charters

Pamela May Charters provides sightseeing charters such as lighthouse tours, historical shore line tours, Narrow River and Great Salt Pond tours, or local events.

We also offer 2-hour sunset sightseeing charters. Departure times will vary slightly depending on daily sunset times. We don't offer online bookings for sightseeing charters so contact us for availability.

American Littoral Society tagging program

Pamela May Charters is a member of the American Littoral Society tagging program. Our charters will tag Stripers once we meet our states limit and return tagged fish back to the sea.

We have tagged and released over 100 Stripers and have had fish recovered as far away as North Carolina. Each angler who tags a fish will be entered in a database and if your fish is recovered you will receive a certificate of fish tagged with information such as size, time and location of recovery.
