Schoolies are in session!

Our 1st Charter as always was in Narrow River and the Schoolies where thick! We launched from Pollock Street and made our way up the narrows at around 330pm with bright sun and warm temps. We had a dropping tide. Always a good tide to hit the river. The water temp is running around 56 in the river and water clarity was great. We got to our spot and 2nd cast we where on. The wind was a bit of a factor with a stiff 15 out of the SW. So we casted the light spinning rods tipped with the tried and true cocahoe minnow in glow with a yellow jig head. We also had the other spinner loaded with a white grub and red jig head. Both produced alot of Schoolies. In total we landed 30 fish in the quick 2 hour charter. Once the wind settled down a little we broke out the 6wt fly rod with a white clouser and it did its job landing us several more micro Stripers. Narrow River is loaded with 12" to 15" Stripers and every year this Schoolie blitz is our 1st stop to our season. It's kinda a ritual for us and has been a great way to get young kids hooked on to there 1st fish in calm waters. These small Stripers are as young as the new angler's casting for them. This river has always been a spawning ground for these fish and as water and climates adjust to northern areas its becoming a critical nursery for the Striped Bass. If your looking for a quick and easy way to get your line tight and dust off the winter cobwebs this is a great fishery. Give us a call to get you and your family out or go down and cast from shore.
